Artisanal femoral prosthesis, Angola, 1996
Bezeichnung
Der Inhalt dieser Seite ist derzeit nicht auf Deutsch verfügbar.
This homemade prosthesis was donated to us by the orthopaedic manufacturing workshop in Luanda, Angola. Made of wood, metal, polyester and textile, this device allowed the patient to move around before obtaining a manufactured polypropylene prosthesis. To support countries in making prostheses, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (ICRC) provides instructional guides used by professionals. There are workshops in many countries and the Museum has handmade and manufactured prostheses from Cambodia, Iraq, Angola and Vietnam.
