"Humanitarian action through a sexual lens : which responses?"

Screening of the film Let's talk about it followed by a discussion between Nelly Staderini & Valérie Gorin, in partnership with the Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies and the think tank Foraus

Humanitarian action is built around the fundamental right of access to health care for all people, particularly in the field of reproductive and sexual health. However, humanitarian organisations working in this sector often face numerous challenges in guaranteeing free and safe access to care, particularly for populations affected by gender and sexuality. On the one hand, there are the constraints brought about by emergency contexts (armed conflicts, disasters or migration) which involve violence and disruption of health care systems and, on the other hand, the legal, normative or moral obstacles posed by sensitive political and/or cultural environments. A dialogue between two expert speakers will question these challenges in relation to academic issues and humanitarian responses in the field of reproductive and sexual health, mainly on the issues of abortion, contraception, sexual violence and the inclusion of sexual minorities.
