On 7 April, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum hosts Médecins Sans Frontières for a special evening on the theme of return, illustrated by the documentary “Egoïste” (meaning: selfish).
— Seats sold out, you can still join us online* —
While all humanitarians prepare to go on mission, few prepare to return and reintegrate into their daily lives. What to tell? To whom? What details to share? How to reconnect with loved ones in this new reality? These are the questions that affect humanitarian workers and their families. Whatever their field of intervention, the organisation they leave with and the role they will have to play on the spot.
The documentary Egoïste addresses this issue in one of its five chapters, by giving the floor to 40 humanitarians and their families. Outside of any geopolitical or health context, each of them, with his or her own words, viewpoint and experience, takes viewers where humanitarians never go: into the realm of the intimate. This event is an opportunity to discover this unique documentary together, and then to discuss it with a panel of professionals.
For those who have not had the opportunity to do so so far, following the discussion it will be possible to discover the exhibition A World to Heal, which illustrates 160 years of photography through the ICRC collections.
For those who would like to see the film, but cannot come to the Museum, the opportunity to see the film is offered.
The film will be available in 5 languages: English, French, German, Italian and Arab
It will be possible to ask questions in writing before the event in order to fuel the discussion on site.
